My Home - Parkgate AI
This image was created using artificial intelligence, but rather than being an exact representation of Parkgate, it should be seen as an artist’s interpretation. The scene doesn’t look exactly like this in real life – buildings, details and colours are adapted and stylised – but you get a real sense of the place and its atmosphere. I deliberately chose a retro 1960s movie-poster style to give it a nostalgic, timeless quality that captures the spirit of Parkgate without needing to be photographically precise.
Parkgate, on the Wirral, is where I live, and it’s a location with a fascinating history and unique charm. The village was featured on the BBC’s Villages by the Sea, which explored its transformation from a busy port centuries ago to the quiet promenade it is today. That programme highlighted how the Parade, the architecture, and the long stone wall all tell the story of a community shaped by the sea.
Looking out from the Parade, the view is dominated by the Dee Estuary marshes – an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a haven for wildlife. This vast landscape is internationally recognised for its birdlife, attracting visitors from around the world. Birdwatchers with long lenses often line the stone wall, capturing flocks of geese, ducks and waders that pass through on migration. The natural drama of the estuary is something that I wanted to evoke in this work.
By combining AI technology with a creative eye, I was able to create something that doesn’t claim to be a literal image of Parkgate but instead conveys its essence – the colour, the character, and the atmosphere of a very special place. For me, this artwork is both a creative experiment and a personal tribute to the village I call home.
