I’ve worked in design for years, across everything from websites and logos to brochures and ad campaigns. The one lesson that’s stood out time and time again is this: simple design always wins.

When people land on a website, they make a decision in seconds. Do they stay or do they leave? If the page is cluttered with too many fonts, colours, or distractions, their brain does extra work just to process it. That’s effort. And when something feels like effort, visitors click away.

Simple design does the opposite. It’s:

• Easy to read – clear fonts, sensible spacing, and contrast that doesn’t make your eyes work overtime.

• Easy to navigate – menus that make sense, no endless dropdowns, and a clear path to the important pages.

• Easy to act on – one main button or link per page so people know exactly what to do next.

It doesn’t mean “boring.” It means making deliberate choices. A bold headline, one strong image, and a single call-to-action can often work harder than a page filled with animations and competing boxes of text.

I’ve seen it in practice with clients. The websites that perform best aren’t always the flashiest. They’re the ones that make people feel comfortable and confident. When design is stripped back, the message shines through. And when the message is clear, people act on it.
