Squarespace designer case studies.
Here are a couple of case studies that demonstrate how I typically work and the process I follow when creating a website. While every project is different, I always aim to keep things simple, collaborative and efficient so my clients feel involved at every stage.
When starting a new project, I begin by discussing the client’s needs in detail. This initial conversation is more than just a briefing – it’s an in-depth exploration of the business, its target audience, and the goals for the website. I want to fully understand not only how the site should look, but also what it needs to achieve. A website is more than a digital brochure; it’s often the first impression of a brand, and it should work hard to convert visitors into customers.
Unlike many designers who rely on static wireframes, I prefer to design and build directly in Squarespace. By creating a few key pages early in the process, clients can immediately see a working version of their site. This hands-on approach allows us to test design ideas, layouts and user flow in real time, while giving clients something tangible to respond to. It removes the guesswork and makes collaboration more effective.
Once those first pages are in place, I gather detailed feedback and refine the design. This stage often involves adjusting layouts, experimenting with colour palettes, refining typography, or reworking copy and imagery until everything feels aligned with the brand. Because we are working directly on the live platform, changes are clear, immediate and easy to visualise – helping the project move forward quickly and smoothly.
After the core structure and look are agreed, I expand the build to include the full set of pages. At this stage I also test across devices to ensure the website is fully responsive, while fine-tuning crucial details like navigation, SEO setup, and optimised imagery.
Finally, I provide clients with clear guidance and training so they feel confident updating and managing their website themselves. The end result is a site that is not only beautifully designed but also practical, user-friendly, and effective at achieving the business’s goals.
